ASCO appoints new head of environmental services

Global integrated logistics and materials management specialist, ASCO, has appointed Kelly Smith as its head of environmental services and decommissioning.

The move comes as Chris Lloyd, who stepped into the head of environmental services role in 2020, has taken the decision to retire. Based at ASCO’s Aberdeen headquarters, Kelly will officially begin her new role on the 1st of January.

During the past decade, Kelly has held several roles in ASCO’s environmental services line; these include environmental business advisor and, most recently, UK technical manager for the department.

Within her roles, Kelly has gained exposure to all facets of ASCO’s environmental service line, setting the strategy for this area of the business and taking responsibility for the firm’s waste transfer stations in Great Yarmouth and Peterhead. Her roles also required her to maintain business and customer compliance while looking to route waste in the most environmentally and cost-effective way.

“It is a privilege to be appointed as head of ASCO’s environmental service and decommissioning,” said Kelly. “With decommissioning activity continuing to ramp up across the North Sea and internationally, this is a busy and exciting time to step into this role. ASCO has created an enviable position from which to operate and manage waste across the entire offshore lifecycle, and I am looking forward to maintaining this reputation in years to come.”

Mike Pettigrew, ASCO CEO, said: “With experience across the environmental sector and leading customer-focused teams, Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. Kelly is an excellent example of how ASCO supports individuals throughout their careers; I am confident she will provide strong leadership to our environmental services business as we continue to move into the new energy environment.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for his years of unwavering service to ASCO; he will truly be missed. We all wish him a happy and relaxing retirement.”
