Gateway highlights transatlantic supply chain collaboration potential
The importance of supply chains working together to maximise energy transition opportunities was the theme of the 12th Aberdeen-Houston Gateway on March 19th.
The event, hosted by Granite PR, took place at Aberdeen’s Norwood Hall Hotel and featured an assortment of in-person and online presentations which zeroed in on some of the key considerations for businesses with transatlantic growth aspirations.
Tax, legal considerations, immigration, energy, life sciences and Houston’s entrepreneurial support ecosystem were among the broad range of topics covered by speakers with experience operating in the UK and/or the US.
The session was chaired by International Development Manager at Energy Transition Zone Ltd, Jacqui Watt who said: “The Aberdeen-Houston Gateway is a clear demonstration that Scotland is open for business, and that anyone wanting to do business here is spoilt for choice in terms of the energy mix.
“Houston can add value in decarbonisation, CCUS and the move into hydrogen, and the Scottish supply chain can help deliver. This will be best achieved by the two supply chains coming together and placing accessibility at the heart of what is a highly mobile sector.”
Event creator Brett Jackson added: “The fact that the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway has now run on a dozen occasions demonstrates not only the depth of connection between the locations, but also their growing breadth.
“By working hard to deliver presentations focused on a careful mix of traditional and evolving sectors we remain committed to the Gateway hallmark of providing a springboard for growth which will bolster delegates and supporters as they navigate the challenges of operating in a modern transatlantic sphere.”
The Aberdeen-Houston Gateway was supported by Aberdeen International Airport, Aberdeen City Council, BoyarMiller, Cellexus, Energy Transition Zone Ltd, GTech Innovation Center, isolved, Jackson Walker LLP, Loganair, PKF Texas, Scottish Development International, Singapore Airlines, Stronachs, Texas Global Consulting, The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, THREE60 Energy, Trademark Insurance, Waller County Economic Development Partnership
